We’re now just a couple days from Creative Care - our curated series exploring the intersection of art, wellness, and seasonal inspiration 🌱

These offerings have held such tender opportunity for community to come together, to pause from everyday life. To slow and breathe deep. To witness, notice, and play.

Each month, we drop in, sip herbal tea, and create for the joy of creation itself. No pressure or expectations. Just presence with what is.

On 4/27 we’re crafting upcycled medicine pouches from scrap leather as we enjoy a warm cup of chai, and these sweet words by our co-facilitator @_l.akinyi offer a loving glimpse into the intention behind these gatherings:

“Chai feels like Home to me. There’s nothing like a warm cup of black tea, cardamom, ginger and masala spices with milk to immediately transport me.

Growing up in Kenya, we’d drive through tea farms on the way to visit my grandparents in the village. I remember looking across the vast fields of green, lost in them for kilometers, my siblings and I excited for the rare moments when our dad would stop and allow us to soak it in, maybe even pick a leaf or two.

I recently received a bag of chai from a friend and fellow Kenyan immigrant. For days, I thought of how the tea got to me…

From the farms in Kericho, leaves handpicked by workers I’ll likely never meet, dried in the sun, processed and transported by the truckload, to a grocery aisle in Nairobi, bought, packed and sent off with family who crossed borders, endured TSA and customs inspections, to finally be delivered to my friend - who was willing to share with me.

And now through this offering, I share this warmth from my Home with you.

At a time we are witnessing the dehumanization of immigrants on this land, I am called to be with my own humanity and remember the invisible acts of service that allow me the comforts I enjoy. A cup of this tea, that has passed through many hands and borders…is a call to memory for me.

And I trust, for those who are open to receive.”

SPRING WATER MEDICINE 💧⛰️🌀☀️

Somewhere between the silence of the pines and the trickle-song of the earth, I bent down to drink. Not just water, but memory. Mystery. The mountain’s own heartbeat.

What you see here is not a trendy hydration ritual. This is communion. A handshake with the planet. A covenant sealed in liquid quartz.

Wild spring water carries minerals, prana, and the poetry of place. It’s unprocessed, unbothered, unbottled. It hydrates at a level your cells have been praying for.

Benefits? Yes:
• Deep cellular hydration
• Trace minerals in bioavailable form
• Clarity, intuition, groundedness
• Rewilding of the senses and spirit
• A felt sense of connection with the living world

I offered tobacco. Not out of superstition, but reverence. A way of saying: I see you. Thank you. I remember.

Rattles are the *perfect* tool to help you break up stagnant energy in both your space and your body, often utilized to create a “chaotic disruption” and pattern reset which allows you to literally SHAKE IT OFF (whatever it is) and begin again with a clean slate.

Creative Care is the first curated workshop series of its kind, exploring the intersection of art, mental and emotional wellness, and seasonal alignment. Given the heartbreaking events we’re experiencing in our local community and as a collective these last few days, this offering geared toward stillness, rest, and rejuvenation couldn’t possibly come at a better time.

1/23 ✨ Snuggle up with us @saltoasis in the coziest healing salt cave around for an evening of Shamanic Sound led by @nico.zulu and @earthnbloom to soothe and support both your respiratory and nervous system. Again, SO TIMELY.

1/28 ✨ Treat yourself to one of our most beloved offerings we are so grateful to continue this year @unearthedwellnesscenter in the foothills of Glendora. Our Sacred Soundscapes are ultra-intimate, so cozy you might feel as though you’re circled up in a friend’s living room, and truly geared toward bringing our local community together to share and BE with one another. It’s like sound therapy and therapy-therapy all in one 😆

A lil bit of life lately…

• Today is our 12th anniversary?! Time fliiiiiies! 😭❤️‍🔥

• The cat distribution system has struck again and we’ve officially been adopted by another kitty! It’s a long story and our OG kitty daughter isn’t too pleased to welcome another lil bro into the family, but he is extremely insistent and literally won’t leave 😂 And also, we love him so it works out 🥹 Luckily they both seem to be sleeping just fine, as cats do.

• Family (both chosen and blood) has never felt more important. So grateful for this life and our people!

• Our children are rapidly growing into the funniest, quirkiest people on the face of the Earth. And also, parenting is weird and cool, and this will be our 4th year homeschooling which feels wiiild 🤪

• We’re all overcoming a brutal summer cold which has been totally LAME, but we’re finally regaining our spunk around here THANK GOD!

• We are hosting no less than SIX offerings this month sharing the regenerative power of sound therapy with our local community. Peep the deets and save yer seats! 🤠

• It’s been a long and beautiful summer full of play, and change, and chaos, and rest, and acceptance, and so many things…and NOW, we’re ready for fall!

Needing help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human 😉

Society raised me to be a hyper-independent people pleasin’ “good girl.”

For sooo long (way longer than I’d like to admit) I felt shame for needing or wanting help or support. Like asking for support would immediately make me a burden to someone else, taking their attention or energy away from something more important.

As though somehow my desire for support meant I wasn’t good enough, or smart enough, or strong enough, or capable enough to do it on my own.

The last thing I ever wanted was to put anyone else out…but beneath that, I just didn’t want to admit that I needed or *wanted* anyone.

I had to be able to prove to myself I could do it all on my own, just in case the people I’d come to trust and rely on weren’t there for me one day.

Hello, childhood wounds? 🥲

It’s taken a long time not just to learn, but to truly KNOW *in my body* it is safe for me to ask for what I want and need - and more, there are people who are so genuinely happy and willing to be there for me.

In fact, people like to feel useful, and needed, and appreciated! And asking for support nurtures a level of connection and strength only born through our shared vulnerability and togetherness.

I was afraid to ask for anything because the very idea of needing someone else felt terrifying. But in reality, sharing these vulnerable, creative, collaborative parts of myself has granted me a new level of intimacy and depth in my relationships - and ironically, also helped me to strengthen a healthy sense of autonomy and trust in myself.

Besides, going through life *with* others is much better than isolating ourselves in the name of self-reliance, especially when all we’re really craving is cuddles and connection!

So I’ll say it again…needing help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human 😌

We have more time to BE with one another, to watch our babies grow, to play. And we’re attracting community and clients who truly see and value what we have to share, and are eager to be a part of it!

This is one instance where less definitely *is* more - and we couldn’t be more grateful 😌

You won’t be able to find us nearly every day of the month these days, but you CAN find us!

On 7/25 we’ll be @saltoasis with @earthnbloom hosting our signature Mineral Shamanic Sound Bath…

And on 7/30 we’ll be cozied up with our friends at @unearthedwellnesscenter for a beautiful evening of community connection, intention setting, and sound therapy!

Our hearts are FULL after a long day of classes and events in service to our community 🥰

We began the day with @ngolapretovelho and our usual Saturday morning capoeira flow over @thegarciacenterforthearts in sunny San Bernardino, and closed out the evening with the sweetest sound meditation and healing circle @mpoweryoga_studio in our old stomping grounds in Claremont.

Today’s evening group was so energetic and open, everyone willing and ready to drop into presence to share and receive the medicine of not just the music, but our collective prayers and intentions too.

One guest prayed for lasting, BIG TIME ✨ABUNDANCE✨ for everyone present…

And we felt inspired to share this generous prayer with you too - since you’re a precious member of our virtual circle!

May your hearts and homes be touched by the energy of brilliant overflowing health, happiness, abundance, and joy - today and always ✨

Did you know rare white and yellow poppy flowers are caused by a genetic mutation initiated by commercial poppy distributors attempting to cultivate new poppy varieties?

Poppies with two normal gene copies are orange, those with one normal and one mutant copy are yellow, and those with two mutant copies are white.

Mutant or not, we love the way these stunning flowers light up our world this time of year!
